Gary: Thanks very much for sharing your important insights. You make good points. Today’s U.S. news media are mostly owned and operated by corporate America. News organizations too often prioritize ratings and revenue over facts and objectivity. But not always.

Even as small corporate subsidiaries, most newsrooms are still independently operated with broad editorial discretion of their staff.

For example, neither Jeff Bezos nor Amazon has editorial influence or decision making authority over news content in The Washington Post. This is the job of editors and reporters. Thus good traditional journalism still exists today — The Washington Post is just one example. Yet it’s true that too many online media shoot first and ask questions later, before facts are confirmed. This is an unfortunate reality of today’s ubiquitous mobile, digital and virtual Information Age with a perpetual 24/7 breaking news cycle which feeds on itself.
