I concur with your sentiments that the Democrats should seriously consider having Biden announce he is stepping down at the end of his term. Dems need to think about the political benefits of a younger and more vibrant candidate with executive governing experience at the state level, along with a track record of winning elections. There are plenty of Democratic governors with strong records of accomplishments that would fit the bill. The ones that come immediately to mind are the governors of Michigan, California and Kentucky. The Democrats should remember what happened when they anointed Hillary as their savior against Trump in 2016. Hopefully this very recent lesson of history won’t repeat itself in 2024. Biden may be a good president but could be weak candidate this ti w around compared to Trump.
The Trump fatigue voters experience at the end of his term has been replaced by a sense of Biden fatigue. Ultimately, the question of electability will loom large. That’s my assessment as a longtime independent voter.
