Lisa: I commend you — yet again — for courageously speaking out openly and transparently about important issues of mental illness and related medical conditions. Your admirable advocacy to #EndTheStigma through writing and storytelling it’s what’s needed to help more people really understand.

It’s necessary to enhance communication and promote constructive discourse so that others will likewise come forward without feeling embarrassment or humiliation. The stigma surrounding mental health must end ASAP from the workplace to every other place. The problem is that people who don’t have any personal experience with these vexing issues often can’t comprehend the complex challenges faced by those affected.

It is my hope that one day soon society will portray mental illness like any other illness, such as cancer or diabetes — rather than continuing to embrace myths, fears and stereotypes which insult to injury. That day cannot come soon enough. Thanks, Lisa, for all you do!
