Ms. Mode: You hit the proverbial “nail on the head” yet again…

“Our goal should be to unseat Trump any way possible. I hope we’re smart enough to do so…”

Precisely!

I think most of the independents who took a chance in voting for Trump in 2016 with positive expectations — and/or the “benefit of the doubt” — won’t make the same mistake twice in November 2020. Moreover, Trump is going to be challenged in the GOP primary by former Mass. Gov Bill Weld and perhaps others. Personally, I’d like see to Sen. Mitt Romney challenge Trump (one of the only Senate Republicans who has the guts to consistently criticize the tyrant-in-chief).

Lastly, independent candidates will likewise run in the general election, thus a Democrat (or Independent) will only need a plurality to win the popular vote — which best translate to an Electoral College victory this time. That was the case when President Bill Clinton was elected in 1992 with 43% of the popular vote and independent candidate Ross Perot received over 20% of the vote (a historic number for the third party candidate).

#ABT = “Anybone but Trump”.
