Shannon: As a Gen Xer, I’m not a fan of selfies. I find them to be arrogant, self-centered and a waste of time. Similar to other social media posts, selfies are a form of shamelessly showing off, if not self-aggrandizement (Instagram “influencers” for example).
What do you think about this disturbing trend of people taking selfies on the edge of mountains, cliffs, and other dangerous places? Some of these people have actually ended up dying by falling off a cliff, including at the Grand Canyon and other landmarks. Is a selfie really worth someone’s life? The obvious answer is no way, no time, never!
How about selfie lovers turn their attention outward rather than inward, like trying to help those in need, not just trying to help themselves through shameless self-promotion???
