Thanks for another good read, Sarah. In communication and PR it’s often said that “perception is reality.” I’m also reminded of a similar saying, “First impressions last” — and I believe the words “perception” and “impression” can be used interchangeably in this regard.
Lastly I reminded of how the iconic band The Doors got its name. Apparently, Jim Morrison selected the name after reading Aldous Huxley’s book, “The Doors of Perception” — which is said to have gotten the title from an interesting quote in yet another book, by William Blake, “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell.” According to Blake’s quote, “If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.” Morrison adopted this philosophy in naming the band.
